Hope Through History: The 2020 6:00 PM Memorial Day Service
Though COVID-19 has altered our plans this year, it won’t stop us from honoring the men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, just as our community has done for 156 years. Flowers will be left in the Boalsburg cemetery for residents and visitors to use to decorate the graves all weekend. We ask that visitors use proper social distancing and follow masking guidelines when they visit the Cemetery.
On Monday, May 25th the 156th Walk to the Cemetery and 6:00 PM service will be held virtually. A small invite only crowd will gather at the Cemetery to bring Hope Through A History – a look at the unique history of Boalsburg and our Memorial Day traditions. We encourage members of the public to log into the Harris Township facebook page to watch this
special service (www.facebook.com/harristownship). The event will also be taped by C-Net for rebroadcast on their channel.
Next week we will share one Memorial Day Moment each day leading up to Memorial Day. These moments will share historical tidbits from the last 156 years. We encourage you to share your Memorial Day memories in the comments.
These are unprecedented times for our country and our community. We hope that by looking to our past we can recapture our community spirit, honor those who fought for our freedoms and look ahead to better days. We hope you will join us.
